Brockville Missions

Purpose:
The purpose of this ministry is to be intentional in furthering the journey of youth in their walk with Christ, whether by planting, watering, harvesting and discipling.

The Need:
The town of Brockville has 3 high schools;

* Brockville Collegiate Institute: 560 students
* Thousand Islands Secondary School: 1100 students
* St. Mary’s Catholic School: 600 students.

In Brockville there are 7 youth groups, the average number of students in each group is twenty, not taking into consideration crossover (those who attend multiple youth groups). This would make the number of youth group attendees in Brockville 140. There are over 2950 students aged 15-19 years old according to Canadian stats in Brockville. That means only 4.75% of youth in Brockville are consistently involved in a youth group and in relationship with Jesus Christ! What about the other 95.25% youth!

A generation of youth are coming through the secondary school system that are totally unaware of who Jesus Christ is and what it means to have a relationship with Him.

Matthew 9:36-38
36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Last week I was in TISS high school and during my hour long stay 1100 students passed by me. It broke my heart to think that most of these students are oblivious to the destructive path they are on. I envisioned these students on a roller coaster going up and down and all around through life, unaware that they are heading for a cement wall.

The unsaved youth of Brockville are on the path of destruction and we need to stand in the gap, love these youth, and raise their consciousness as to the path they are on.

Statistics show that 80% of professions are made before the age of 18! I was recently at a conference this past summer, and they said that the age has now dropped to 14!

Realistically, 20% of professions are made after high school… so we have a very narrow window to present the good news of Jesus Christ to the youth before the odds are stacked against them. Please prayerfully consider how you might partner with us as together we stand in the gap to reach and impact the youth of Brockville for Jesus Christ.

Also please keep us in prayer as we prayerfully consider different avenues to be used effectively in the community of Brockville.
